CAMP FACILITIES: Our camper living facilities are beautiful modern cabins, all of which have wood flooring, pine walls, windows, air-conditioning and ceiling and attic fans. Modern updated bathrooms, replete with private shower and toilet stalls, are housed within the cabins. The bunks are spacious with separate rooms to store our camper's clothing. The cabins are air-conditioned and have state of the art sprinkler systems, metal-encased electrical conduit, ARC-fault breakers, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and new hot water heaters.

Many of our staff members and Directors are former campers who grew up at Thomas School and wanted to share the joys they had at camp with their children.

Our Directors are all RTE (Responding to Emergencies) certified, which includes CPR and First Aid (certified by the American Red Cross).

Our lifeguards are Red Cross Certified lifeguards and teach Red Cross certified swim lessons.

Our Riding Instructors are all certified instructors, as well as being certified in CPR and first aid by the Red Cross.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers age 13-15 participate in our CIT program where they can choose a specialty area in camp and mentor with staff from that area (Ex: Ride staff, lifeguards, counselors etc.) They also go on trips-some of our past trips have included: overnight to Hershey Park, overnight to Six Flags Great Adventure, day trip to the Waterfront Center (sailing and kayaking), day trip to Mountain Creek water park, overnight to Club Getaway, day trip to Brownstone Adventure Park, overnight Camping/White Water Rafting, etc.)

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Year round ride school with programs for ages 3 and older. Lessons offered include private lessons, group lessons and semi privates. Group lessons are offered full year or seasonally.

We offer camps during school breaks where students can spend the day at the barn taking care of and riding a horse that they are assigned to.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: New Country Day Camp is an oasis for children growing up in New York City. All of our campers and staff ride the camp bus from stops in North Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan to the beautiful Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Staten Island. Our older campers spend their mornings with their friends in camp groups of kids their age. In their groups, they'll have an opportunity to try all of our camp programs. In the afternoons, campers spend time in program units which they choose independently on Mondays, and which last the week through Friday.

Any camper entering 2nd through 6th grade may choose from the following program units: Camping, Cooking, and Pioneering Or Science and Technology Or Sports Or Gymnastics Or Arts and Crafts Or Martial Arts Or Performing Arts. CAMP FACILITIES: Our natural wooded setting, outstanding facilities, and breathtaking waterfront provide campers endless opportunities for outdoor fun.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers enjoy a balanced schedule that includes group periods and choice periods each day. During group periods, campers participate in group activities that ensure group bonding and a well-rounded summer. Choice periods provide campers a customized Walden experience, with more time and instruction in the activities they love most.

Walden also has many exciting special days that differ from our regular schedule! Our campers enjoy awesome trip days to places such as Six Flags amusement park. We also have many Special Event Days including Carnival, Big/Little Day, and Superbowl Sunday among many others. Our campers spend a lot of time outdoors playing sports, water games, swimming, going out on fun trips to local farms, making bread at local French bakeries.... The staff engages in French only with the campers through live games, songs, arts...

Our staff is fluent in French and comes from all over the world. All staff members are fully trained by Bonjour NY and many are also certified in Advanced First Aid, CPR for the Professional rescuers, lifeguarding...Everybody is carefully selected and a full background check is done on all employees. CAMP FACILITIES: Merrick Woods offers huge, sprawling ball fields and quaint, plenty of playgrounds, and rustic craft shops carved out of the woods. We also have three heated pools basking in the sunshine, and the shaded paths and coves where cool breezes provide comfort from the summer heat.

CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.

Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.

The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.

We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.

Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. We create the right balance between competition and good sportsmanship, allowing every camper to be comfortable joining in, while also promoting teamwork and spirit. At Timber Lake West, winning is great but our goal is that every camper walks off the field or court with more friends and feeling better about him or herself.

HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.

Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.

Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.

Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.

As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.

Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. Every Wednesday is uniquely programmed for our entire campus. After a well-deserved later wake-up and breakfast on our campus, campers head out to a special morning of electives. The afternoon is a scheduled activity! Dinner is our famed barbecue and then a special evening activity finishes out the day. Each evening is filled with a fun activity. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.

The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.

Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.

We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!

The GO Project currently serves 722 students in grades K-8 through our summer (GO Summer) and school year program (GO School). Unique to the GO Project model is the partnership we have developed with independent schools in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. As our 5 year old campers transition from Stepping Stones to Main Camp, they will begin to utilize our traditional-sized facilities while participating in enhanced tennis instruction and other athletic activities, American Red Cross swim instruction/recreational swim, nature, music, creative & performing arts and many other exciting activities! Our 5 year old program also features a 'Mini Club' period which allows each group to select from a list of their favorite activities to participate in each day.

Our 5 year olds also participate in our unique, values-based, STARFISH program. The STARFISH program not only supports our camp's mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends while building self-esteem; it creates a safe environment that makes accomplishing that mission possible. Our STARFISH program assists in teaching, promoting and recognizing the values of Sportsmanship, Tolerance, Appreciation, Respect, Friendship, Integrity, Sensitivity and Helpfulness.

6 & 7 Year Olds
Our 6 & 7 year olds take full advantage of our famous 'Club Elective' program on a daily basis, allowing our campers to customize their schedules with their favorite activities! Club options include enhanced tennis instruction and competitive play, musical theatre production, other athletic clinics, innovative studio art projects, and many more!

8 Year Olds
In addition to participating in our great range of traditional activities, our 8 year old campers get the chance to experience the excitement and spirit of teamwork associated with our 'Sports Leagues'. Sports Leagues begin on an every other day basis, alternating with a SECOND 'Club Elective' period. League Teams are divided equally, with the emphasis being put upon good sportsmanship and building self-esteem. Campers may also participate in one of our 'Showtime' musical theatre productions, cook, swim, dance, explore nature, and take advantage everything that our camp program has to offer!

9 & 10 Year Olds / 11 & 12 Year Olds
We recognize that our older campers are looking for a more innovative and customizable summer experience so we give it to them! Our 'Club + Sports Leagues' program allows these senior groups to tailor their summer experience for up to two hours each day. Additionally, these older groups have "flex" periods in their schedule throughout the week which allow their group to once again choose between a list of available activities to participate in. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Neglia Ballet's "Storytime Explorers" is a creative arts summer camp (ages 5-8) where children are the story keepers and their imagination the storyteller. Our amazing and talented staff create a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to apply their imaginations. Over the course of a week children will read classic books, create costumes, scenery and dances allowing them to retell a story, together, in their own way. The Sports Academy experience at Brookwood Camps is one where children will develop new skills, learn to live with others, and have fun. This is accomplished each summer in a safe, nurturing & caring environment where each child is made to feel special. CAMP FACILITIES: We have a lake, three swimming pools, large ball fields, a garden and a farm, a playground and separate courts for tennis, basketball, street hockey and volley ball. Our Outdoor Adventure program has special locations for climbing walls, obstacle/rope courses and zip lines. We have a series of individual workshops and studios for dance, music, theater, ceramics, wood, graphics, sculpture, photography, weaving and art.

These provide the opportunity for every child to discover the special satisfactions of creativity. There is a fully equipped indoor gymnastics center and a fencing shed. Special facilities feature excellent instruction in tennis and archery, fencing, track and field. There are also dormitories with bathrooms, where children store their belongings and change clothes. And, of course, there is a kitchen, dining rooms, and a well-equipped infirmary. If it rains, all our workshops, studios and covered facilities allow for continuing programs.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1950, Hillcroft has been a caring and nurturing family-run camp where children "learn by doing". The name Hillcroft comes from "hill" or high location and "croft", the English word for "working farm".
